spiders in backyard

in my backyard, a spider with abdomen the size of a meatball.

lying in wait for flies to catch in web.

in its element.

black-and-white-striped spider lies in wait.

according to my research, spiders eat as often as they can find food.

meatball spider seemed to sense my presence and made a run for it even though i was trying to be stealth.

[side shot]. the spider spun an intricate web. they must be intelligent creatures to have the ability to do that.
